Who Can Join?
Anyone over the age of 18 is eligible to join.
Do I need to have a music background?
No. Our Drum and Bugle Corps has played by ear for over eighty-five years. Our horns players blow bugle calls. Our drummers follow an easy to learn cadence and our bell players learn the melody of our songs by reading letter notes on a sheet of paper.
Do I need to live in the fire district to join?
No. You can live anywhere in Western New York.
How many practices does the Drum and Bugle Corps have?
We rehearse most Monday nights throughout the year for about an hour.
Will I have enough time to participate?
We are a very flexible social organization – members are not penalized for work, school, military duty or medical convalesces.
How many performances do you have?
We try to keep our performance schedule to around 13 parades a summer.
How do you differ from other Drum Corps?
We do not participate in field competitions. We were formed as an ambassador organization for the Pine Hill Hose Company. Our social group supplies music for fire department related events and at parades throughout the year.
Does it cost anything to be a member?
Our members pay $6.00 in yearly dues.
Are there auditions?
No. We will teach you if you have no marching or playing experience.
What is my longevity outlook for Drum Corps?
We have members that have been in the Corps for over 50 years. Others decide to depart our ranks after a few years. It really depends on the person. Members attain life membership status after accruing 20 years of active service.
When should I join the Drum Corps?
Anytime. If you have no musical experience and you wish to play an instrument, it is best to join in January – but, you can still join anytime.
